A CraigCat is the world's finest compact power catamaran — twin pontoons, a 9.9 HP engine, and a top speed of 30 mph. It seats 2 people, is very stable, and is easy to operate even for first-time boaters. HydroCats is the only operator in Sarasota running guided tours on CraigCats.

Tours are 2 hours from departure to return. Plan to arrive 20 minutes early for the safety briefing and equipment check.

The route takes you through Sarasota Bay, past the barrier keys, and out toward open water. The exact route varies by conditions and guide, but every tour includes a sandbar or beach stop. Dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles are regularly spotted along the way.

Tours accommodate up to 10 guests. Each CraigCat seats 2 people, so a full group of 10 means 5 boats on the water. We keep groups small on purpose — every guest gets personal attention from the guide.

Dolphins are frequently spotted on Sarasota Bay — especially in the morning and early afternoon. Manatees and sea turtles are also common. Your guide knows where to look and will stop the fleet when wildlife appears.

Every tour includes: USCG-approved life jackets for all guests, bottled water and fresh fruit, a waterproof dry bag per boat, wind jackets in cooler months, and an expert local guide leading the fleet. Just show up — we handle the rest.

Florida requires anyone born after January 1, 1988 to carry a Temporary Boater's Safety Card to operate a motorized vessel. You can obtain one online at myfwc.com for $14. It takes about 45 minutes to complete. If you were born before January 1, 1988, no card is required.

Passengers must be 5 years or older. Guests aged 14 and older may drive with an adult (18+) in the same boat. To operate a CraigCat independently, you must be 18 or older.

Absolutely. The CraigCat is designed to be easy to operate — most guests are comfortable within the first few minutes. Your guide will walk you through everything during the safety briefing before departure.

All tours depart from the Don Roehr Boat Landing at Centennial Park, 1059 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236. It's across from Publix on Tamiami Trail — look for the CraigCats in the water. Arrive 20 minutes before your tour start time.

Parking is available at the boat landing and in the Van Wezel lot across the street. Cost is $5/day, payable via the ParkMobile app or a card kiosk on site. Park in marked car spots only — not on the grass or in trailer spots.

Cancel 24 or more hours before your tour for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If HydroCats cancels due to weather or unsafe conditions, you receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.

Tours operate in light rain and overcast conditions — that's part of the Florida adventure. We cancel only when conditions are genuinely unsafe: lightning, high winds, or rough water. You'll be notified as early as possible if a tour needs to be cancelled.

Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet — you'll be on open water and there's a good chance of spray. Swimwear or athletic wear is ideal. Sunglasses are highly recommended. In cooler months, bring a light layer — wind jackets are also provided on board.

Yes — apply sunscreen before you arrive. You'll be on open water for 2 hours with no shade. Reef-safe sunscreen is appreciated to protect the bay ecosystem.

Yes — a waterproof dry bag is provided on every boat for phones, wallets, and keys. A waterproof camera or phone case is recommended if you want to capture photos while moving at speed.
